The cell cycle, or cell-division cycle, is the series of events that take place in a cell leading to its division and duplication (replication) that produces new cells. Mitosis is a part of the cell cycle process by which chromosomes in a cell nucleus are separated into two identical sets, each in its own nucleus. The end result is 2 genetically identical cells. Meiosis is the formation of the gametes/ sex cells that contain half the number of chromosomes that are genetically unique and part of reproduction.
